Hello! My name is joey anderson. I'm a certified nutritional therapist and certified GAPS™ practitioner. I've had a life-long passion for food and cooking. Some of my favorite childhood memories are baking with my grandmother and helping her make chicken soup.
I hold a bachelors degree in psychology (I think I alway knew I wanted to help people in a healing way). Prior to becoming a Nutritional Therapist, I lived and worked as a sous chef for several years at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, Ca . I have also had my own catering business. This love for food and feeding people took a new and deeper direction when I faced fertility challenges. I needed to reexamine what healthy eating looked like and dig deep into alternative practices to help me achieve my desire to have a family.
When blessed with a healthy, beautiful baby boy I felt a profound responsibility to do right by his little body. This made me take an even deeper look as intuitively I knew that conventional food practices offered by our current culture were not in his best interest (or mine for that matter!). I then stumbled upon the work of Sally Fallon and the Weston A. Price Foundation. This motivated me to act on my dormant desire to pursue a career in nutrition. I went back to school and graduated from The Nutritional Therapy Association as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I also trained with Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride to become a Certified GAPS™ Practitioner as well studied with Andrea Nakayama having completed her Digestive Intensive course through the Holistic Nutrition Lab. My most recent course of studies have been in functional blood chemistry, comprehensive GI stool testing, food sensitivity testing and adrenal stress testing with Restorative Wellness Solutions.
I love the work I am so lucky to do. I am continually inspired by the amazingly beautiful food we have access to here in the Bay Area and how rewarding it is to help people empower themselves and their families to live healthier lives with nutrition.
